









In just 19 years of life and 12 years experience Rey Barcena, of Los Angeles, CA, is a
major creative force in our industry today. Coming from a family involved in
entertainment, it didn't take Rey long to combine his background in dance with his
producing and directorial capabilities.
When Rey was 13 he began extensive dance training under the direction of Nick
Lazzarini, Melody Lacayanga and Leo Morimune. More recently Rey has also worked
with Sonya Tayeh on numerous projects and is now part of Tayeh Dance Company.
Rey has performed throughout the nation and in 2004 performed in the Zurich,
Switzerland World Salsa Congress. Rey recently worked with Paula Abdul & Benji
Scwimmer on the setting of FOX’s American Idol’s Season 8 top 6 group
performance “Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)” and performed as a special
guest with the Rage Boyz Crew on the finale of FOX’s Season 5 “So You Think You Can
Dance” at the Kodak Theatre. In 2006, Rey and his partner Alex Liu were season 1
finalist on the CBS television show “Dance Revolution” in which Rey was a co-
choreographer. A major highlight in Rey’s dance career was his role as a Principal
Dancer in the feature film “Fame” choreographed by Emmy Award Winner and
iHollywood Faculty member Marguerite Derricks, directed by Kevin Tancheron. You
can also catch him as a principal dancer in the new Nickelodeon TV show
“Victorious” ,about a performing arts high school premiering in February 2009.
In 2006, Rey founded iHollywood Productions which produces the original “Hottest
Summer Intensive” iHollywood Dance. He recently co-directed and produced the
music video for iHollywood Dance 2009 at Paramount Studios. iHollywood Dance
has become Rey’s most prized project and he plans to expand the event on a
national level in the near future. Keeping the company motto:
"we create events that we would like to attend ourselves."
